Matariki hours for facilities
Facility Information
On Friday 10 July we celebrate Matariki, the Māori new year. To help with your planning, here are the opening hours for council facilities on the day.

Victoria Park playground update
Parks and Reserves
We've removed the spinning wheel at Victoria Park due to age and repeated damage. If you notice damage to any play equipment, let us know on 06 765 6099.

Proposed temporary road closure – Stratford Street Sprint
Roading
Stratford District Council proposes to close the following roads on Sunday 16 August 2026 between the hours of 7.30am and 5.30pm.

Page Street Playground upgrades
Parks and Reserves
We're removing the existing aged seesaws at Page Street Playground. New ones are due to be installed by the end of June.

Temporary road closure – Kupe Road
Roading
Kupe Road will be closed on Monday 15 June, between 9am and 5pm for tree removal to take place.

Rural Spray Round
Roading
Council contractors will carry out weed spraying on all rural roads in the district from Tuesday 2 June 2026.

Dog registration fees 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027

The following will be the Dog Control fees for the 12 month period from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.

Temporary road closure – Ariel Street
Roading
Ariel Street between Fenton Street and Cloten Road will be closed on Friday 15 May, between 6am and 12noon.

Rates reminder – 4th instalment due
Rates
Payment of the fourth instalment of rates for the 2025/26 rating year is due no later than 4.30pm on 27 May 2026.

Skate Park enhancements in Victoria Park
Parks and Reserves
From 11 May council contractors will begin work to improve accessibility at the Victoria Park Skate Park.

Road Closure - Croydon Road between SH3 and Salisbury Road
Roading
We're replacing two large diameter road culverts near 520 Croydon Road and to do this work we need to close the road to through traffic from SH3 to Salisbury Road.

Urban CBD Moss and Lichen Spray Round
Roading
Council is carrying out moss and lichen spraying on the footpaths in the Stratford CBD from 6pm to 7am on Sunday 3 May to Tuesday 5 May 2026.

Toko Road and Raupuha Road Closure
Roading
Power Pole Maintenance works will be occurring on Toko Road and Raupuha Road from April to June 2026.
