Waste Management and Minimisation Plans
The purpose of the WMMP is to identify the district vision, objectives and targets for waste management and minimisation. It outlines how Council will fund and deliver actions to meet these objectives.

We’re required to review the plan every 6 years. We’re doing this now, alongside our neighbouring districts and in line with the regions vision to achieve a zero waste future.
We aim to have a draft plan out for consultation mid 2023 with the final adopted by 2024.
To ensure we’re on the right track, we want to hear from our community on what your waste management aspirations are, any concerns you have and any ideas you have to help our district achieve a zero waste future.
There are big changes happening nationally within the waste management and minimisation environment to help our country move towards a more sustainable future. These changes will be reflected in our new WMMP and impact some areas of our community more than others.
In particular, these changes will have an effect on our rural community, commercial properties and businesses, the construction industry, auotomotive industry and any organisations that produce hazardous waste.
We'll be reaching out to stakeholders in these industries over the month of February 2023 to get a better understanding of their needs to ensure the new plan is fit for purpose for our community.
All our residents have a role to play in reducing the waste we produce, so even if you’re not a business owner or farmer, you should still have a view and share your ideas and aspirations with us when invited to provide feedback.
