Rates Rebates

Check your eligibility for a rates rebate!

If you're a residential ratepayer on a low income or have a Gold Card, you may be eligible for a maximum $830 partial rebate on your rates. Central government sets the criteria and rebate amounts. If you meet the criteria, you can apply for a rebate on your rates bill for the year from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027. You must return your application to us by 30 June 2027.

If your application is successful, any credit on your rates account can either stay there and be used for future rates payments, or you can have it refunded to you.

Application form

If you're eligible, once you receive your rates bill, complete the application form on Govt.nz. You'll need to provide proof of income with your application. The form has to be completed and returned back to us here at Stratford District Council before 30 June 2027.

If you're successful, we'll deduct the amount of your rebate from your future rates bill. If you've already paid your rates in full, we'll contact you about your rebate.
