Dogs looking for a forever home
Dogs available for rehoming will be listed here. The ages provided are an estimate only, based on the individual characteristics of the dogs.
UPDATE Monday 15 April - Honey has been adopted. Thank you to everyone who spread the word to help find her a new home.
Honey is looking for a FURever home
Honey is a very friendly and playful two year old girl (not fixed). We think she's a Border Terrier cross, and she loves a good game. If you won’t play fetch with her, she throws her toys herself, and catches them too!
Honey is used to kids, good with other dogs, and should be ok with confident cats (but we hear she can try to play with them and be a bit boisterous).
She enjoys lots of attention and play, has basic training, and even goes to her kennel on command.
If you think you can give Honey a loving home, please call our Animal Control Team a call on 06 765 6099.

What is Council's rehoming policy?
If a dog is unclaimed and/or the owner of an unregistered dog does not come forward after 7 days, Council will assess the dogs rehoming potential.
If the dog has rehoming potential (meaning it does not present a risk to people) Council will advertise the dog on this page and the Animal Control Facebook page.
If you would like to adopt a dog that we have advertised please contact Council 06 765 6099.
Council takes all steps necessary to provide a healthy and well-behaved dog for adoption. The Council will not be held responsible for the dog’s behaviour, health conditions or any claims following adoption.
Impounded dogs
Animal Control Officers can impound dogs that are found wandering or are a danger to people and stock. Once dogs are picked up, they are kept at the Stratford District Pound.
If a dog is registered in our system, our Animal Control Officer will try to contact the owner immediately.
If your dog is not microchipped and not registered in our system, Council will endeavour to find its owners by sharing the dog on the Stratford District Animal Control facebook page.
Fees must be paid in full at Council offices before you are able to collect your dog.
See Council's Fees & Charges for impoundment fees.
