Have you noticed reduced water pressure?

Last summer Council carried out a water zoning project which saw the installation of a number of large pressure reducing valve (PRV) stations. These stations include water meters as well as pressure reduction and isolation valves.

The stations are part of our water use efficiency monitoring and aid in our commitment to water conservation measures in our district.

If you’ve noticed a slight drop in your water pressure recently, this will be due to the work of these PRVs.

Water pressure on the eastern side of Stratford town has previously measured at a much higher rate (between 650 and 1100 kPa) than Council’s level of service which is 10 litres per minute at >350 kPa.

Monitoring since the installation of these stations have found that flow rates across properties are exceeding the expected level of service of 10 litres per minute at >350 kPa. However, this might be less that what your property has been used to.

It’s totally normal, and means our water supply is working at a more sustainable rate.
