Gaining the Skills Active Pool Lifeguard Qualification provides you with the responsibility and keys skills needed for prevention and response. On completion of this qualification you will receive 20 NCEA Level 3 credits, and the opportunity to start a career in the Aquatics Industry.
Cost: $300.00 plus a PLPC recognised First Aid certificate.
Course Dates: 20th, 21st, 22nd April 7.00am – 11.00am. This is a three day course; attendance on all three days is required.
Venue: TSB Pool Complex
Requirements:
- You must be at least 16 years old on the day you begin training
- You must demonstrate your ability to swim 200m in under 6 minutes
- You must demonstrate your ability to swim 50m breaststroke
- You must demonstrate your ability to swim 25m sidestroke
- You must demonstrate your ability to tread water for 5 minutes
- You must demonstrate your ability to retrieve an object from the bottom of the deepest part of the pool.

To complete the qualification:
- Complete the three day course (PLSA)
- Complete the theory and practical assessment (PLSA)
- Complete a minimum of 20 hours of shadowing pool lifeguard duties (PLPC)
- Complete a facility induction.
