Positive Ageing

RSVP for our free Positive Ageing Forum!

If you're part of our 65-plus community, make sure you come to our Positive Ageing Forum for informative presentations and good company over lunch and refreshments.

  • How to keep healthy and improve your strength and balance.
  • Easy, free and low-cost tips to keep your home warm and dry.

Celebrating and advocating for our 65-plus community

Positive Ageing began life as the Stratford Positive Ageing Group, made up of representatives from community organisations who supported our district's older adults.

For over 15 years, they worked together advocating for our senior community and creating opportunities for older people to celebrate, connect, and have fun.

In 2023 the group disbanded, but the good times and work on behalf of older adults didn't stop. Positive Ageing events are now delivered by council's Community Development Team and we will continue to work closely with community organisations to identify and address issues concerning older adults in the district.

Keep an eye out for our events

We hold two free forums every year focused on issues affecting older adults. The forums include a light lunch, and socialising over kai and a cuppa is a big part of the event.

We also celebrate the International Day of the Older Person on 1 October every year, with morning or afternoon tea and live entertainment. It's a big highlight on our calendar!
