Youth Week
Crafternoon, On the Bus, and Pop-up Cinema events!
Stratford district’s rangatahi aged 12 to 18 are in for some next-level fun, with 3 free or low-cost events planned for this year’s Youth Week; a national celebration of Aotearoa’s young people from 19 May to 25 May 2025.
SDYC On the Bus to Bowlarama

- Cost: $5 per person, pizza and drinks included
- Register: Get in quick, numbers are limited. Book your seat at Eventbrite.co.nz

SDYC Pop-up Cinema
We’re rolling out the red carpet for rangatahi aged 12 to 18, with Stratford’s free Pop-up Cinema, brought to you by the Stratford District Youth Council.
Our pop-up movie theatre will be in the Function Facility at the Stratford War Memorial Centre.
We’ll supply the cinema vibes, massive screen, professional sound system, and free pizza and drinks. You just bring something comfy to sit on, like a bean bag, cushion, or beach chair (or not, up to you).
Then, settle in for our cinematic masterpieces:
- Bee Movie from 5.30pm – fun, nostalgic, and animated. *chef’s kiss*
- Clueless from 7.30pm – Is there a better 90s cult classic? “Ugh, as if!”
Coming to the Pop-up Cinema is free, but make sure you register at Eventbrite.co.nz so we can order enough pizza.
The details
- When: 5.30pm – 9.15pm, Sunday 25 May
- Where: Function Facility, Stratford War Memorial Centre
- Age range: 12 to 18 years old
- Cost: Free!
- Register by 4pm Fri 23 May at Eventbrite.co.nz for pizza-ordering purposes
Important info:
- Can you just come for one movie and pizza? Yes, but you’ll need to be signed in and out of the event, and whether you’re leaving early (like, after the Bee Movie) or at the end, we’ll need to know you’ve got a safe way to get home.
- If you’ve got dietary restrictions, let us know when you book.
