Additional Activities and Programmes

Wai o Rua - Stratford Aquatic Centre offers a range of additional activities, such as:

Recreation/Inflatables/Holiday Activities

At the weekends, toys and inflatables are put out for recreational use. During the school holidays, the larger inflatables are scheduled, please keep an eye on our pool bookings.

Our Toddler, Learn to Swim and Programme Pools and our Splash Pad makes for all kinds of recreational fun.

School Aquatic Programmes

Various aquatic programmes are available for schools.

These can include but are not limited to:

- swimming lessons

- water safety programmes - beach, boat and river safety.

- water polo

- aqua aerobic,

- snorkelling

Please arrange to speak with our Programmes Coordinator to discuss what we can do for your school.

Water Safety Programmes

Our Water Safety Programme focuses on safety in all kinds of water, as well as how to correctly put on a life jacket, how to react in an emergency and what kind of emergency items are needed when heading out to sea. We have all the necessary equipment, including a small inflatable boat, to allow people to experience different emergency scenarios. This program is aligned with Coastguard New Zealand, which means once pupils complete the course, they are presented with a certificate. Schools and any community groups are welcome.
