Some harmful bacteria continues to be detected in the Pātea River and caution is advised.
Water quality at this level is generally suitable for swimming, but young children, elderly or those with compromised health may be at increased risk of illness.
Play it safe — Check that the water is clean and clear before taking a dip.
Signage advising people of the risk will remain in place.

Recent water quality test results show that the Pātea River at the Scout Den is not suitable for swimming
Harmful bacteria can sometimes be detected in the Pātea River, affecting recreational swimming holes running through King Edward Park.
When this happens, water contact may be harmful to humans and animals. Signage advising people of the risk will be erected at the river - but it's important to always check whether you can swim before you take a dip. Please always check the Taranaki Regional Council (TRC) website to see the most up to date water quality test results.
