Update 27 April 2023:
These works are slightly behind schedule due to some poor weather days impacting construction. Due to this, the road closure has been extended to the below dates.
- 24 hours a day until 5 May 2023
- Day time closure between 8am and 6pm from 6 May to 2 June. Access will be available through the closure over night during these dates.

Improvement works are being carried out on Opunake Road at the Dunn’s Stream Bridge (between Manaia and Rowan Roads) for approximately 10 weeks from 20 March 2023, weather permitting.
During this time a section of Opunake Road will be closed and detours will be in place. See below for maps of the westbound and eastbound detours.
The date and time of the works and road closure will be:
- Road closed 24 hours a day from 20 March to 21 April
- Road closed between 8am and 5pm from 24 April to 19 May.
Affected residents will have access to their properties at all times.
