Pātea River - No swimming until further notice
Harmful bacteria has been detected in the Pātea River, affecting recreational swimming holes running through King Edward Park.
Water contact may be harmful to humans and animals. Signage advising people of the risk has been erected at the river.
Please contact Council on 06 765 6099 or check the Taranaki Regional Council (TRC) website before you swim to see the most up to date water quality testing and results.
From 1 November TRC is switching to all-weather sampling at fixed weekly intervals at 40 popular beaches and swim spots, instead of sampling only during fine weather. More information this testing programme can be found here.
