School holidays with Stratford District Youth Council events!
No plans for the school holidays? Don’t stress, Stratford District Youth Council (SDYC) has you covered!
With two epic, low-cost or free events for rangatahi aged 12-18 years planned, SDYC invites you to register now so you don’t miss out.
Join them on Tuesday 7 April for their popular On The Bus adventure to the New Plymouth Skating Arena, then jump into an evening of fun at the free Hydro Hype 2 pool party on Friday 10 April at Wai o Rua - Stratford Aquatic Centre.
SDYC Co-Chair Hunta Ngatai-Northcott says these events are the perfect way to celebrate the end of the first school term for 2026.
“Whether you are keen to make a splash, try roller-skating for the first time, or are just there for the pizza – no judgement here! These events are an awesome opportunity to get together with other young people and enjoy the school holidays,” he says.
Get On the Bus - Inline Skating and Pizza
Tuesday 7 April
11.30am – 3.45pm
$5 per person
Age range: 12-18 years
Hop on the bus in Stratford and we’ll head to the New Plymouth Skating Arena for a fun-filled afternoon of inline skating and delicious pizza! Whether you're a seasoned skater or just starting out, this event is perfect for everyone. It's a great way to spend time with friends, meet new people, and enjoy an afternoon of active fun.
Hydro Hype 2! A chill-out takeover of Wai o Rua just for you.

Hydro Hype was such a hit last time that we had to run it again. Join us for a free pool party where you decide how you want to spend your time:
- Want to relax, snack on pizza, and catch up with mates? Go for it.
- Ready for noodle battles, bombs, and full-on fun? Absolutely.
- Something in between? Perfect.
We’ll bring the food and drinks. Zeal Taranaki will be on deck with the vibes and great music.
