Summer Nights free concert in the park on this Saturday

Stratford’s Summer Nights concert in the park kicks off at 5pm on Saturday 31 January, featuring award winning Waikato duo Rowdy’s Rose and Australia’s rising country star Jake Whittaker.

Director Community Services, Kate Whareaitu says, “We’re thrilled to be able to bring these amazing artists to Taranaki and showcase their talent in our beautiful backyard.”

“Our Summer Nights events aim to give residents and visitors to the district the opportunity to get together with friends and whānau, relax, and enjoy our park settings,” she says.

“We hope everyone takes advantage of this opportunity to come together with loved ones and support the free entertainment on offer.”

Here's what you need to know for a summer evening well spent:

When: 5pm – 8pm, Sat 31 Jan

Where: Rhododendron Dell, King Edward Park

Parking: Parking is available at Stratford Primary School (gold coin donation). The entry is via Regan Street (follow the signs). There is dedicated accessibility parking along Brecon Road on Saturday between 2pm and 8pm. More parking available on surrounding streets and in the War Memorial Hall carpark on Miranda and Portia Streets.

Food trucks: Purchase kai from Mr Kool Icecreams, Ferns Kai Waka (burgers, white bait fritter, chips and more), Safe Delites (100% gluten free), and Fruzo Taranaki (slushies the kids will love).

Picnics / alcohol: You're welcome to bring a picnic and your own beverages. Alcohol is allowed, but please remember this is a family-friendly event and drink responsibly.

Be a tidy kiwi: Please use the recycling and rubbish facilities available at the event.

Umbrellas and chairs: Yes, you're welcome to bring these and get comfy, but please consider other people when choosing your spot and setting up. We want to make sure everyone can see and have a great time.

Dogs: While King Edward Park is a dog walking zone, if you’re settling in to enjoy the music, please leave your four-legged friend at home. There’ll be loud sounds, lots of people (some who may be frightened of dogs), curious kids, and picnic food just lying around! These can be a bit much for even the goodest dog to handle.
