Book a Librarian

Need a hand getting set up with eBook or audiobook lending, navigating the library catalogue, using your device or laptop, or tackling something that really needs an in‑depth session with a librarian?

Head to Stratford.govt.nz/BookALibrarian or call 06 765 5403 to schedule a free one‑on‑one session at the library.

Library Customer Service Officer Jane Roguski says, “We’re always available to have a chat and help people out, but sometimes it’s best to sit down and have the time to focus and really talk things through.”

“We’ve also got a lot of skills within the team here, and it could be that your enquiry best suits a specific person. Booking means you’re able to talk to the right librarian, at a time that suits you.”

The Whangamōmona librarian express

Join the district’s favourite roaming librarian, Jane, at the Whangamōmona Public Hall to pick up your new library books and drop off your old ones - all without leaving the Republic!

Sessions run every four weeks to match the library lending period. The next visits will be 10am – 12pm on Tuesday 3 February and Tuesday 3 March.

Books can be requested online through the Library catalogue by logging in with your library card and password, or by calling the library on 06 765 5403.

Jane can sign up new library memberships too, just bring your ID and proof of address.

Community Conversations

Once a month, the library hosts a presentation from a local speaker, followed by a cuppa and a chat.

Next up to speak, is Christine from the Senior Citizens Association from 11am - 12pm on Friday 20 February.

The Stratford and District Senior Citizens Association Inc & Hall, also known as the Senior Citizens Hall, is a community hub for older adults.

Christine will talk about the facilities available, what’s on, when it’s on, and who it’s for.

Jane says, “If a session sounds interesting, come along - all are welcome!”

“Community Conversations are a way local organisations can have the chance to showcase what they do, explain how they work, and share helpful information directly with the community.”
