Committees

Policy and Services Committee

The purpose of the Policy and Services Committee is:

• To assist Council with the development of an appropriate strategic policy framework that is based on a comprehensive knowledge of the community and its requirements.
• To consider matters not the function of another committee.
• To assist Council with ensuring that its services are delivered in an effective and efficient manner that meets the needs of its communities.
• To monitor the Council’s performance, progress and financial position against, and to ensure compliance with legislation, strategies, policies and plans.

All Councillors are part of the Committee, which is chaired by the Deputy Mayor. The Committee meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month, and records minutes of all its proceedings and presents them to Council at the next meeting of Council.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee acts on behalf of the full Council at any time when the urgency of a matter would make the delaying of a decision contrary to the best interests of the Council or its community. The Committee’s purpose is to provide consultative advice as per the Property Acquisition and Disposal Policy, and to make decisions when emergency matters so require.

The Committee is made up of five members of Council with the Mayor as chairman, and meets as required. The Committee reports back to Council.

Farm and Aerodrome Committee

This committee provides governance for the vision of our Council farm and the aerodrome. The Committee is chaired by Councillor Boyde and the committee members are a combination of councillors and staff, with voting rights being restricted to councillors. The elected members on the committee are Councillor Jones and Councillor Dalziel.
