Please note the Stratford Transfer Station is only open on Saturday this weekend, 12pm - 5pm. The Transfer Station will be closed on Sunday 16 August to allow for the Stratford Street Sprint event to occur. We're sorry for any inconvenience.

Policy and Services Committee

The purpose of the Policy and Services Committee is:

  • To assist Council with the development of an appropriate strategic policy framework that is based on a comprehensive knowledge of the community and its requirements.
  • To consider matters not the function of another committee.
  • To assist Council with ensuring that its services are delivered in an effective and efficient manner that meets the needs of its communities.
  • To monitor the Council’s performance, progress and financial position against, and to ensure compliance with legislation, strategies, policies and plans.

All Councillors are part of the Committee, which is chaired by the Deputy Mayor. The Committee meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month, and records minutes of all its proceedings and presents them to Council at the next meeting of Council.

Audit and Risk Committee

The purpose of the Audit and Risk Committee is to ensure Council is delivering on agreed outcomes and is managing risk in an appropriate manner. It provides Council with a mechanism to investigate financial reporting and risk issues in more detail.

The Committee has an Independent Chair and membership comprises of the Mayor and four Councillors.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee acts on behalf of the full Council at any time when the urgency of a matter would make the delaying of a decision contrary to the best interests of the Council or its community.

The Committee is made up of five members of Council with the Mayor as chairman, and meets as required. The Committee reports back to Council.

Water Services Committee

The Water Services Committee (the Committee) is established to oversee, advise, and support the governance and delivery of water services in accordance with the Stratford District Council’s Water Services Delivery Plan (WSDP). The Committee ensures that water, wastewater, and stormwater services are delivered sustainably, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

The Committee has an Independent Chair and memberships comprises of the Mayor and two Councillors, and an Iwi representative.

Hearings Committee

To conduct hearings on behalf of Council and any of its committees, including matters of a regulatory nature where a public hearing is required.

All Councillors are part of the Committee, and meets as required.

Employment Relations Committee

The Employment Relations Committee has primary responsibility for executing the Chief Executive’s performance agreement and monitoring the Chief Executive’s performance.

The Committee is made up of five members of Council including the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor as chair, and meets annually.
