Citizenship Ceremonies are held each year in March, June, September and December. Once your Citizenship Application has been approved by the Department of Internal Affairs, you will be contacted by the Stratford District Council and invited to attend a Citizenship Ceremony at which you will receive your Citizenship Certificate and you will officially become a New Zealand citizen.
Mayoral Bike Challenge
The Mayoral Bike Challenge is held during February as part of national Bike Wise month. Stratford District Council’s Community Development team partners with local groups and businesses to provide a fun afternoon of cycling activities.
In past years, there has been a competition with prizes for the best decorated bike and helmet, followed by a ride for families through one of Stratford’s many parks led by the District Mayor, with spot prizes up for grabs for all participants.
Industry Training Graduations
The Industry Training Graduations recognize the achievements of those who have recently completed their trade qualifications and is an opportunity to recognise the importance of trades in our local economy and community. The annual event is run in collaboration with the Mayor's Taskforce for Jobs and the various industry trade organisations throughout New Zealand.
ANZAC and memorial days
The Stratford District Council supports and contributes to the celebration of ANZAC Day and other memorial celebrations such as Chunuk Bair and Soldiers' Day. We work in conjunction with the RSA and other community groups to ensure that commemoration services are accessible to the public and that our past and present service members are rightly honoured.
For queries about citizenship ceremonies, please contact the Executive Administration Officer at Stratford District Council.
For more information on any of the other functions, please contact one of our Community Development Officers.
