With the festive season almost upon us the Stratford District Council is once again asking residents to donate a gift for those less fortunate.
The Mayoral Christmas Gift Appeal is a long held tradition in Stratford encouraging local residents to donate new or pre-loved toys and gifts in good condition.
Due to a generous donation from a local collector last year, the council has a substantial supply of stuffed toys, but is always in need of gifts for teenaged boys and older people. Donations of toys, hygiene products, and food are always useful.
Mayor Neil Volzke says that Christmas can be a challenging time for many individuals and families and the appeal helps to relieve that.
“I am always impressed by the generosity of the Stratford community and I’m sure this year’s appeal will be another example of that,” says Mayor Volzke.
Donations can be made under the Christmas tree at Council’s Service Centre on Miranda Street, or the Stratford District Library.
Gifts will be accepted up until Tuesday 18 December.
