Council is asking the community “What would you like to see in the new bike park?”
A letter from a local pre-school started the conversation. Gr8kidz pre-school in Stratford had been learning about bikes, and realised that there were no bike tracks in the Stratford District for them to ride on. The teachers and children wrote a letter to Council, with suggestions for a bike park. They even built a model of a potential bike park.
The concept of a bike park was consulted on throughout the 2018-2028 Long Term Plan, and it received a lot of positive support from the community. With confirmation that the bike park will be built in Year 3 of the Long Term Plan (2020), Council are currently asking the community to show us what they would like included in a bike park.
“‘Design the bike park for Victoria Park’ aks the community to design their dream bike park,” explains Neil Cooper, Parks and Property Asset Manager at Stratford District Council. “All designs will be given to the bike park reference group, to help shape the design of the new bike park.”
Entry forms will be available to be picked up from the Council site (site 70) at the Stratford A & P show, and also from the Stratford District Library, Stratford i-SITE and Council service centre on Miranda Street, from Wednesday 21 November.
All designs received will go in the draw to win a Stratford Holiday Fun Pack. Entries close Monday 10 December.
