Council adopted its Consultation Documents for the 2018 - 2028 Long Term Plan in an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday 20 March.

The Long Term Plan outlines the Council’s planned activities, priorities and vision for the next 10 years, and the Council is wanting feedback from Stratford District Residents and Ratepayers on their proposed plan.

As Mayor Neil Volzke explains “This document is the result of the balancing act that we have gone through to ensure that the right mix of ‘needs’ and ‘wants’ is in the budget, trying to keep rates affordable while at the same time maintaining and growing community facilities to ensure the Stratford District remains a desirable place to live, work and play.”

The Consultation document includes how Council will manage its finances and its infrastructure, as well as discussing key issues such as the future upgrades to the TSB Pool Complex, upgrades to Stratford’s Core Services, improvements to the local parks and a possible change to the Uniform Annual General Charge. Each key issue discussed in the Consultation document explains the major issues, and proposes several options on how these issues can be improved. Residents will have an opportunity to feedback on all the key issues raised in the Long Term Plan Consultation Document.

Chief Executive, Sven Hanne, adds “In the setting of budgets, a wide range of feedback from the community has been taken into consideration, and we hope that our residents take this opportunity to tell us whether they agree with what the council is proposing. We value the opinions and viewpoints of our residents and ratepayers, and their responses to the Long Term Plan will enable us to better represent and meet their needs.”

There will be a number of public meetings held throughout the district in which the Long Term plan will be presented, and any questions can be addressed.

Consultation has started, and the Long Term Plan Consultation Document is now available to be viewed on the Council website, and will be distributed as a hard copy to the community from Tuesday 3 April onwards. Additional copies can be collected from the Council Service Centre at 61 Miranda Street, the Stratford Library, or the TSB Pool Complex.

This is an opportunity for Stratford District Residents to help shape the future of Stratford, by having their say on the key issues. Each consultation document will include a submission form, which can be completed and returned to the Stratford District Council Service Centre by Tuesday 24 April. Alternatively, a form can be filled in online via the council website.
