Stratford District Council is excited to announce a range of free activities available in our local parks from 13 to 18 March 2018.
Activities on offer include Zumba, group fitness, yoga, tai chi, and aqua pump classes. All activities are free of charge, with participants just needing to turn up 15 minutes prior to each activity for registration. There will be spot prizes each day, and all participants who partake in the events over the week will go in the draw to win a three month membership with the TSB Pool Complex.
In addition to these activities, there is an exciting new augmented reality game with an environmental twist. The game ‘Evergreen’ will be available to play during the week and turns recycling and rubbish collection into a fun and engaging game for kids and rewards them for being responsible for the environment.
This game encourages kids and families to get out and explore their local parks whilst learning the fundamentals of recycling. Evergreen will be available to play in Page Street Park, and Victoria Park. Each park has a game specifically designed for it and the games cannot be played outside the designated areas within the park. Download the Magical Park app for free from Google Play and the App store.
The national Parks Week campaign aims to raise awareness on the value of parks and open spaces, and to get people out of their living rooms and enjoying the outdoors.
For a full timetable of all activities, check out the Stratford District Council Facebook page, or Council’s website, www.stratford.govt.nz.
