Zorbing brings X Factor to Youth Sports Day!

If you are prepared to be transformed into a giant human airbag, you have got to check out Stratford District Youth Council’s Youth Sports Day this school holidays.

The multi-sports event combines familiar sports including squash, volleyball and renegade hockey with the popular recreational craze, which is bumper ball.

Bumper ball, also known as bubble soccer, body zorbing or loopi ball is a hilarious combination of traditional soccer with participants wearing big bubble suits. With bodies safely enclosed in giant inflatable bubbles, players are sent flying, bouncing, bumping, flipping and rolling as they fight for possession of the ball.

Chairperson Kate-lyn Edser says the Youth Council have organised the event to have something for everyone, regardless of their sports ability.

“Bumper ball is all about fun, so you will be smiling whether you are playing or watching,” says Kate-lyn.

The morning will offer participants short coaching sessions in volleyball and renegade hockey followed by 20 minutes playing, with a focus on having a go rather than competition. The afternoon will be a combination of bumper ball and squash.

The Youth Sports Day is for ages 12-24 only and takes place on Friday, October 13 from 10.30am-2.30pm at the TET MultiSports Centre in Stratford.

Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased from Stratford i-SITE.
