Youth Councils around New Zealand are making a difference for the future of youth and Stratford’s Youth Council is right up there with the best! Now it’s your chance to be involved.

Applications are now open for 2019/20 and close at 12noon on Monday 10 June 2019.

It’s easy to apply, simply fill out this online form or pick up an application form at the Council Service Centre, Stratford Library, TSB Pool Complex or from your school office.

Kate Whareaitu, Director Community Services says, “this is a great opportunity for those aged 12 to 24-years-old, who are interested in learning new skills, meeting new people, representing the views of your peers, getting involved in organising events and having a say about what happens in your community.”

Every year a group of community minded youth help ensure Stratford is a great place to live, work and go to school in. During the last year this has included developing youth-focused events like A Scary Night, Amazing Race and Colour in the Park.

Stratford District Youth Council is a diverse group of up to 15 people aged between 12 to 24-years-old who live, work or go to school in the Stratford district, and represents all young people in the area. They meet twice a month in one formal, and one informal meeting.
