Ultra Fast Broadband
In March 2015, the government announced a decision to extend funding for the Ultra Fast Broadband (UFB) and Rural Broadband Initiative (RBI) programmes and to establish a new Mobile Black Spot Fund (NBSF). Councils were asked to tell the Government why our district should be a priority and how we would support the rollout.
In July, Council submitted a Registration of Interest to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment in reply to this decision.
The Registration of Interest and supporting documents are below.
Digital Enablement Plan
In September, Council released its Digital Enablement Plan (DEP). This plan is what supports our bid by providing an action plan and the funding for the next three years to promote the uptake of UFB within the district, which includes educating local businesses and residents in the benefits and use of this digital technology.
