CREATIVE COMMUNITIES NEW ZEALAND SCHEME

Applications for financial assistance under the Creative Communities New Zealand 
Scheme are now invited.  Application forms are available from the Stratford District 
Council Office, Public Library and Information Centre.  Applications close at 4.30 pm 
on Friday 7 September 2007.

Eligible Projects

Projects that may be considered under this scheme should:

•  have an arts or cultural focus.
•  take place within the Stratford District.
•  meet at least one of the three funding criteria.
•  produce benefits which are largely experienced within the Stratford District, 
   eg. the activity primarily draws its audiences from within the Stratford District.
•  not have started before an application for funding is assessed.
•  not have been funded by Creative New Zealand for the same purpose.

Funding Criteria

Projects or activities must:

•  increase participation in the local arts.
•  increase the range and diversity of the arts available to the Stratford Community.
•  enhance and strengthen the local arts sector.

Any group, organisation or individual may apply for support under this scheme, so long as the 
project for which funding is required conforms with the above criteria.

Assessment Criteria

Projects that meet the above criteria and are eligible for assessment under the Creative Communities 
New Zealand scheme should be assessed according to the following priorities:

First Priority - A project that increases participation in the arts.

Second Priority - A project that increases community wide interest in the arts.

Third Priority - A project that enhances and strengthens the local arts sector.

SPARC 2007 RURAL TRAVEL FUND

Applications are now being sought for the SPARC Rural Travel Fund.

The Rural Travel Fund is available to rural sports clubs and rural school teams 
with young people aged between 5-19 years who require subsidies to assist with transport 
expenses to local sporting competitions.  Stratford District Council administers the fund 
on SPARC’s behalf.

The Rural Travel Fund does not provide assistance for the purpose of travelling to regional or 
national events.

Application Forms are available from the Stratford District Council Office, Information Centre and 
Public Library, Miranda Street and close on Friday 7 September 2007 at 4.30 pm.  Further information/assistance 
is available from Raewyn Gordon.

NOTICE OF TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES

Pursuant to Section 342(1)(b) of the Local Government Act 1974, notice 
is hereby given that the Stratford District Council proposes to close 
the following roads on Thursday 25 October 2007 for the periods indicated 
hereunder for the purpose of the 2007 Dunlop Targa Motoring Event:

Stage 15: 	8.30am to 12.30pm

•  Makara Road between Croydon Road and New Plymouth District boundary
•  Croydon Road between Makara Road and SH3 Mountain Road
•  Salisbury Road for the first 100 metres either side of Croydon Road
•  Manganui Road for the first 100 metres from Croydon Road.

Any person objecting to the proposal is called upon to lodge notice of 
his/her objection and grounds thereof in writing before FRIDAY 24 AUGUST 2007
at the office of the Stratford District Council in Miranda Street.
