Are you passionate about customer service? Stratford District Council has vacancies for two part-time Library Assistants to join the team at the Stratford Library. For both roles you must be able to work Saturday mornings.

The ideal candidate will have:
An outstanding customer service attitude
Experience in delivering library or education programmes
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated confidence and competency with a wide range of devices and software programmes
Flexibility to work additional hours as requested

Communications Officer (Part-Time Fixed Term)

 
The Stratford District Council is seeking applications for a Communications Officer. This is a part-time fixed term (up to 12 months) position to cover maternity leave.
The Communications Officer will be responsible for managing and coordinating all of Council’s communications, both internal and external, as well as designing, managing and maintaining all paper and web based material. The ability to maintain positive relationships will be an important attribute of the successful applicant, as well as being confident to advise and assist staff and elected members with their communication needs. The position will also be responsible for promotional events.

The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience in managing media and with design programmes.
Previous Local Government experience is preferable but not essential.
This position is 20 hours per week.

Birthday Party & Event Hosts

 
Stratford District Council is seeking Birthday Party and Event Hosts for the TSB Pool Complex in Stratford. These are newly created positions requiring flexible weekend and school holiday hours.
 
Hours will be on a casual basis as Parties and Events are booked with the complex.
An interest or previous experience in early childhood education, child development,physical education and water sports is certainly a plus but not necessary.
Leadership, customer service, time management, creativity, organisation and planningskills are a must.
Must be 16 years of age and over.
The ideal candidate will be Energetic, Enthusiastic, and will enjoy playing games with children.

Group Fitness Instructor (Fixed Term 12 months)

 
Stratford District Council is seeking Maternity Leave cover for a Group Fitness Instructor for the TSB Pool Complex in Stratford. Classes are scheduled from early morning’s right through the day into the early evening six (6) days a week.
 
More than two (2) years previous experience in teaching fitness classes and physical education is certainly a plus but not necessary.
A National Certificate in Fitness (Group Fitness Instruction) Level 3 or Equivalent are a must.
The ideal candidate will be Energetic, Enthusiastic, and will have a passion for Health and Fitness.

Director - Corporate Services

A unique opportunity has arisen in the heart of Taranaki for the right leader to become our Director of Corporate Services. Stratford District Council has a permanent full time vacancy for the right person to lead the department and be a part of an invigorated new team.

The Director, reporting directly to the Chief Executive and working closely with the Mayor and Elected Members is responsible for the provision of financial, and policy and strategy advice and management of financial planning, budgeting and performance monitoring. In addition, provision and management of information management and technology to all areas of council, including the commercial businesses and CCO of Council is also within the scope of this role.

Applicants should have a relevant tertiary qualification and have strengths in areas of financial, operational and corporate management. It is expected that the right candidate will be at home with managing a varied team, that includes responsibilities for information management and technology, and provision of advice on statutory requirements and associated local government acts, rules and regulations. Being a Chartered Accountant (or having relevant skills and qualification for registering as a CA) is a non-negotiable.

Essential to this role is the ability to make informed decisions, have good communication skills and the ability to engage with key stakeholders. It goes without saying that you will be an engaging leader with a track record of leading great teams.
