Engineering Officer

Due to the current position holder pursuing other career opportunities, Stratford District Council is looking for a capable and enthusiastic person to be our Engineering Officer.

Your responsibilities will include design and delivery of water supply, stormwater, wastewater and refuse operational and capital projects. This includes design work, survey, contract preparation and project supervision.

This is an opportunity to work with a small, supportive team in a position that offers variety and challenge. Having NZCE or a Diploma in Engineering (Civil) would also be desirable.

Director - Assets

Due to an internal promotion Stratford District Council has a permanent full time vacancy for the director of its assets department.  Reporting to the Chief Executive, this position leads a team responsible for the management of utilities, roading, parks and property.

Stratford District Council is a rural authority in the heart of Taranaki and has a population of approximately 9,000, the majority living in Stratford itself.

Applicants should have a relevant tertiary qualification and have strengths in asset management planning and a broad knowledge and understanding of all of Councils infrastructural services.

Essential to this role will be the ability to make informed decisions, have good communication skills and the ability to engage with key stakeholders. Applicants must have previously managed both operating and capital budgets and be able to contribute sound advice around strategy and best practice delivery of services.

Community Development Officer

Stratford District Council has a permanent full time vacancy for a Community Development Officer.

We’re looking for an energetic, engaging and enthusiastic professional with community or economic development experience, who is a team player with a good understanding of how community organisations work, and experience with event management.

This position involves:
• Providing a professional administration service, and coordinating promotional activities for the Stratford Business Association (equivalent to 20 hours per week).
• Project and strategy development and implementation
• Event management
• Administration including minute taking and agendas

The position requires someone with the ability to work flexible hours, with a good understanding of how community organisations work, experience with project facilitation, and a good knowledge of Stratford and the Taranaki region.
