The Stratford District Council is one of New Zealand's treasured districts in the Taranaki region and is benefiting from growth. The Stratford District Council is looking for an exceptional Chief Executive Officer to lead the Council forward and further embed the good practices that have been implemented over the last few years; to exemplify a forward-thinking and customer-focused council and to deliver value to the community.

The CEO's role is to work with the Mayor, Councillors and an executive management team to develop innovative solutions for the community, with a particular focus to drive economic development while balancing environmental issues and engaging with the community. The CEO will be supported by a committed and energised Council, as well as a strong and collaborative management team, striving to do what's best for the community.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a collaborative and inspirational leader with extraordinary strategic vision, who also enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting the job done. The successful candidate will be politically astute, inclusive, responsive and innovative with the capacity to drive positive change in the community and lead strategically important projects. They will be an excellent communicator who is comfortable engaging with a diverse group of people and who has an affinity with and passion for building a strong rural community. Excellent relationship management skills are a given as is the need to develop strong networks and relationships both in the region and across New Zealand. A track record of success in a complex organisation could have been gained in either the public or private sector.
