Keeping Stratford Beautiful

With the annual Clean Up New Zealand Week just around the corner, it’s time to be a tidy kiwi and join one of the largest voluntary efforts in the country.

Keep Stratford Beautiful will take place 11-17 September in line with the national campaign and the Stratford District Council is encouraging all schools, businesses and community groups to get involved.

Community Development Advisor Leanne Richards says we are lucky to live in such a beautiful area and Clean Up New Zealand Week provides a great opportunity to get out and show some pride in our community.

“We can all do our part and feel the satisfaction of contributing to keeping Stratford and our environment clean and beautiful,” says Leanne.

The Council urges those wanting to get involved to think of a place or places within Stratford which need a tidy and choose a morning or afternoon between 11 and 17 September to carry out their clean up.

Participants are encouraged to register for the event with Keep New Zealand Beautiful on www.knzb.org.nz to receive a FREE clean up pack including rubbish bags, recycling bags, and disposable gloves.

Children can also be in with the chance to win prizes with the Council running a Recycled Critters competition. All critters must be: made of at least 80 percent recycled materials, no more than one metre long and be dropped off at the Stratford Library by Friday 15 September.

For more information and to finalise your registration contact Leanne Richards at the Stratford District Council on 06 765 6099.
