Local Alcohol Plan Survey
As part of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 councils were given the option to develop a Local Alcohol Policy (LAP), relating to the sale, supply and consumption of alcohol within its district.
A key feature of this, and the Act overall, is to give communities a say on alcohol licensing in their areas, such as determining maximum trading hours in the area, and limiting the location of licensed premises near certain facilities, such as schools.
The three Taranaki council's have each resolved to developed LAPs for their district. The LAPs will be used by the Council's District Licensing Committee (DLC) and the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority when they make decisions about alcohol licensing applications.
